The Humane Society of Mason County is dedicated to providing a second chance for companion animals through compassionate rescue, supportive pet adoption, and life-saving community services. We believe every life matters and we are committed to providing the care and resources necessary to help every animal thrive.

Founded in 1986 by a group of dedicated volunteers, our organization has grown into a vital resource for Mason County. As we face the rising costs of veterinary care and increasing community needs, we remain steadfast in our commitment to keeping families together and ensuring pets receive the care they deserve.
How We Care
We operate as a foster-based organization, which allows our animals to receive individualized care in loving home environments while they await their forever families. Our reach extends to a dedicated vet clinic in Belfair and the City of Shelton’s dog shelter, where we provide everything from medical exams and spay/neuter surgeries to specialized neonatal support for our most vulnerable babies.

10/14 - Bandit really loves playing with other dogs and will appreciate having a canine buddy. He enjoys fetch and will bark until you throw the toy again. It's adorable! This little guy is slow to trust humans but he has really warmed up to his foster dad and enjoys daily pets and snuggle time in the recliner. In fact, he follows his foster around the house, along with the resident dog. He really likes to be wherever his family is. Bandit will benefit from a calm home and a patient adopter who provides love, consistency and guidance. In time, we believe Bandit will develop a very special bond with his person. 10/11 - Fancy and four younger kittens were found abandoned at a trailhead in the middle of nowhere, trapped in a crate! They were all sick, but once the younger ones were feeling better, they were adopted really quickly. But Fancy needed more time. We don't know her past, but we can understand why she'd be nervous around humans. Though she has never shown any sign of aggression, she is very slow to trust. We're thrilled that she is making progress! Thanks to her amazing foster mom, she is slowly coming out of her shell. She enjoys chin pets while in the comfort of her safe spot. Fancy is ready for her forever home! She'll appreciate a calm home and a patient person who will allow her to progress at her pace. She may appreciate life with another kitty, though we always recommend slow introductions. Interested?
