Our Mission
The Lewis County Animal Shelter is dedicated to finding all adoptable pets a lifetime home. We strive to provide a safe space for stray, homeless, and unwanted animals while actively promoting responsible pet ownership through education and community outreach.
Serving Our Community
Established in 1980, our 5,000-square-foot facility in Chehalis serves as a vital resource for our local animals. We are committed to the health and well-being of the pets in our care and are currently working toward the construction of a new building to further enhance our capacity to serve.
How We Care for Animals
Our facility is thoughtfully designed to meet the diverse needs of our animals, featuring both indoor and outdoor kennels for dogs, specialized cages for cats, a dedicated surgery room, and a quarantine area. Every animal in our care receives essential support to prepare them for their new lives, including initial vaccinations, de-worming, microchipping, and sterilization (spaying or neutering).
Finding Your Perfect Companion
Our goal is to connect responsible owners with loving pets to create permanent, lifelong partnerships. We work on a first-come, first-serve basis, and we provide adopters with the essential supplies—such as a collar, ID tag, and leash or carrier—to ensure a smooth transition for your new family member. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older, or be accompanied by a parent or guardian to finalize the process.

We are open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
