At the Orcas Animal Protection Society, our mission is to ensure pets remain safe, healthy, and close to the people who love them. We believe that by providing compassionate care and community support, we can change lives every single day.
As a private, nonprofit shelter serving San Juan County, we advocate for the welfare of animals through both shelter services and community-based programs. We exist because we believe every animal deserves a second chance and that our community is strongest when pets and families are supported together.
Our work is powered by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who provide safe, nurturing shelter for stray and owner-released dogs and cats. Beyond our physical shelter, we operate a subsidized community clinic to keep pets healthy through preventive care, dental services, and spay/neuter programs. We also partner with other shelters across Washington to welcome pets in need, ensuring a wide network of support for animals on and off the island.
Adopting a pet is a meaningful commitment, and our adoption counselors are here to help you find a joyful, lasting partnership. Whether you are searching for a playful kitten or a seasoned senior companion, our goal is to facilitate a perfect match that enriches your life and provides a pet with a loving home.
We invite you to be part of our compassionate community of animal advocates. You can view our currently available pets to start your journey, visit our shelter in Eastsound, or learn how your support helps us continue our vital work for the animals who need us most.
