Welcome to MEOW Cat Rescue, also known as Mercer Island Eastside Orphans and Waifs, a dedicated no-kill cat shelter based in Kirkland, WA. Since our inception in 1997, we have been committed to promoting lifelong relationships between people and their feline companions by providing shelter and care until they find their forever homes. At MEOW, our mission is simple yet profound: we hold a deep respect and compassion for all animal life. Our vision is for a society free from the threats of irresponsible pet ownership, where every pet is guaranteed loving care throughout its natural life, devoid of abuse or neglect. Founded by a group of passionate animal lovers in the early 1990s, MEOW's foundation is built on a no-kill philosophy driven by our unwavering commitment to the welfare of all animals. Our volunteers make up the heart of our organization, tirelessly working to provide quality care and support for every cat and kitten that comes through our doors. Each year, we successfully place between 800 to 1000 animals into permanent homes, aided by our rigorous application process that ensures every adoption meets our high standards. Our goal is to foster a “no-kill nation,” where every pet receives proper care and is never abandoned or left to fend for themselves. MEOW's expansive services include educational resources for prospective adopters focusing on responsible pet ownership, fostering practices, and health care for cats. We pride ourselves on our inclusive environment, welcoming all individuals from diverse backgrounds to join us in our mission to improve the lives of animals. We emphasize the significance of spaying and neutering and provide low-cost clinics to enhance community wellbeing.
