Our History and Vision
Founded in the early 1990s by a small group of animal-loving friends, we started as a non-profit organization with a steadfast no-kill philosophy. Since becoming a registered 501(c)(3) in 1997, our vision remains a future where every pet is assured loving care for its natural life, free from the dangers of neglect or abandonment.
How We Care for Our Animals
MEOW is a limited-admission shelter based in Kirkland, WA, where we place between 800 and 1000 animals annually. Our care model relies on a dedicated team of volunteers who provide a safe, nurturing haven for cats and kittens—whether they are orphans, seniors, or those needing specialized medical support. Many of our animals thrive in foster homes, where they receive individualized attention and socialization while waiting for their families.
