Joint Animal Services

A Heart for Our Community

At Joint Animal Services, our mission is to promote responsible pet ownership while ensuring the health and safety of both people and animals. We are dedicated to providing compassionate care for our community's pets, alleviating animal suffering, and finding loving, forever homes for those in our care.

Our History and Purpose

Established in 1977, we serve as the primary regional animal shelter and control agency for Thurston County. We are proudly funded by the cities of Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and unincorporated Thurston County, working together to be a resource for every animal and citizen we serve.

Providing a Safe Haven

We operate an 8,000-square-foot facility situated on five acres of wooded land, designed to be a central, accessible hub for pets and people. As an open-admission shelter, our dedicated staff and volunteers provide quality daily care and enrichment for all our animals, collaborating with local veterinarians to ensure every pet receives the support they need to thrive.

Building Lifelong Friendships

Choosing to adopt is a beautiful commitment, and we are here to help you find the perfect match for your family. We encourage you to bring your entire household to meet our adoptable pets, ensuring that everyone gets along well and that you are ready for a long-term partnership that brings joy for years to come.

Join Our Mission

Whether you are ready to adopt, donate, or volunteer, there is something you can do to make a difference in the lives of animals. We invite you to view our available pets online or visit us in person to discover your new best friend and see how your support creates happy endings.
