Welcome to the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society (OPHS), a compassionate haven for homeless, helpless, and suffering animals established in Clallam County in 1947. Our mission is clear - we strive to provide the highest level of care while promoting humane values and education for the benefit of animals. At OPHS, we believe every animal deserves a loving home and a happy life. We are proud to operate as a selective-admission shelter, ensuring the health and well-being of surrendered, abused, or abandoned companion animals. With a no-euthanasia policy for healthy and adoptable animals, we provide shelter or foster care until a permanent home can be found. In 2016, we saw our vision come to life with the construction of the Bark House, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance the living conditions for our canine residents. With our commitment to safety and cleanliness, we are excited to announce that the Bark House has reopened as of March 2025. Additionally, our dedicated Kitty City shelter, which houses up to 75 feline friends, has also reopened to provide specialized care with veterinary services and outdoor "catios" for our cats. Each year, OPHS handles around 1,500 animals through adoption and collaboration with local agencies. Our various programs aim to reunite lost pets with their families, facilitate adoptions, and offer medical treatment and recovery support for sick or injured animals. In doing so, we are proud to have celebrated 158 successful adoptions in the recent months alone. We believe in fostering a community spirit where caring for animals is paramount. We encourage public involvement through volunteering, donations, and participation in our events.
