The Whitman County Humane Society values the human-animal bond, provides stewardship for homeless pets, and promotes the compassionate treatment of all companion animals. We are dedicated to providing care, shelter, and placement for stray and homeless animals throughout our community.
Established on February 16, 2000, our organization was founded by community leaders to ensure humane care for local animals. Since July 2000, we have operated with a no-kill policy, ensuring that adoptable pets are never euthanized due to space constraints.
Operating as a private, non-profit, limited-admission facility, we provide housing and medical care at our AnimalHaven campus. Our work extends beyond our walls to include vital community resources like our pet food bank, spay and neuter assistance programs, and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives for community cats. By working closely with partners and community members, we strive to reduce overpopulation and support the well-being of animals across the county.
We believe in creating thoughtful, positive matches that set both the adopter and the animal up for long-term success. Our dedicated team works closely with you to understand your needs and lifestyle, ensuring that every adoption is a joyful partnership. We encourage open communication throughout the process to ensure that your new family member truly feels at home.
Whether you are looking to adopt your new best friend, volunteer your time, or provide a loving foster home, there are many ways to get involved. Please browse our currently adoptable animals online, or visit our shelter in Pullman during our open hours to meet the pets waiting for their forever families. We look forward to welcoming you to the WCHS community!
