About Adopt-A-Pet Welcome to Adopt-A-Pet, a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Shelton, Washington. Since our inception in 1979, we have been committed to rescuing unwanted, abandoned, and abused dogs in Mason County. Our journey began with a small group of compassionate individuals who saw the pressing need to provide shelter and care for these deserving animals. Today, we proudly continue this mission with the support of our vibrant community. Our story is one of community action and unwavering dedication. With the help of our generous members and passionate volunteers, we have grown to accommodate 35 dogs and have expanded our services to include a low-cost spay/neuter program initiated in 1985—the only one of its kind in our area at the time. Currently, our organization consists of 71 members and 37 active volunteers, all working towards the common goal of ensuring that every dog finds a safe and loving home. At Adopt-A-Pet, we believe in the values of compassion, community, and care. Our all-volunteer team strives to enhance the well-being of both our canine companions and the humans who support them. Our activities include not only facilitating adoptions but also engaging the public through events and fundraisers, encouraging community involvement in our mission. We hold quarterly general meetings where anyone is welcome to participate and help guide our operations. While our public hours are temporarily suspended for health precautions, we remain accessible through email for inquiries and adoption applications, ensuring that the search for a furry friend continues uninterrupted.
