West Columbia Gorge Humane Society
Our Mission
The West Columbia Gorge Humane Society is dedicated to saving the lives of pets and providing the essential resources that keep pets and their people together. We believe every animal deserves a healthy life in a loving home.
Our Story
Since our founding in 1994, we have grown into a vital resource for the Washougal community and beyond. Today, our compassionate work is powered by a small dedicated staff and over 200 volunteers who provide life-saving care to thousands of animals and people each year.
How We Help
Operating as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we focus on socially conscious sheltering. Our campus features two separate buildings for cats and dogs, supported by an extensive foster home network and adoption centers located in local Petco stores. By assessing the individual needs of every animal, we ensure that every healthy or treatable pet receives the support they need to thrive.
Your Role in Our Family
Adoption is the beginning of a beautiful, lifelong partnership. Our adoption counselors are committed to enhancing the human-animal bond by thoughtfully matching each pet with a home that fits their unique personality and needs. Whether you are seeking a playful companion or a calm best friend, we are here to ensure your new family member is the perfect fit.
Join Us
We invite you to experience the joy of rescue by viewing our currently available cats and dogs online. You can also visit our shelter during our Tuesday through Saturday business hours to meet our residents in person. Together, we can continue to create second chances and build a kinder community for pets and their people.
