The National Humane Education Society is dedicated to fostering a sentiment of kindness toward animals, ensuring that every companion receives the protection and respect they deserve. We believe animals have intrinsic value and exist as cherished companions in our lives.
Founded by Anna C. Briggs in 1948, our organization continues a long-standing commitment to animal welfare that spans over six decades. From our early days at Peace Plantation to our current campus in Charles Town, West Virginia, we have worked tirelessly to create a more humane world for lost, abandoned, and neglected animals.
The Briggs Animal Adoption Center (BAAC), established in 2000, serves as our state-of-the-art facility on our 24-acre campus. We provide the highest standard of care, featuring an on-site veterinary clinic where every animal is evaluated and spayed or neutered before finding their forever home.
We believe the best relationships are built on compatibility and trust, which is why we guide you through a thoughtful adoption process. Our experienced counselors help match families with pets who will bring years of unconditional love, ensuring a rewarding transition from our center to your home.
We invite you to visit our campus in Charles Town to meet our featured animals and see firsthand how your support creates a brighter future for our residents. Whether you are ready to adopt, learn more about our programs, or simply want to explore our available dogs and cats, we look forward to connecting with you. Please reach out to our team at the Briggs Animal Adoption Center to start your journey toward finding a new best friend today.
