Our Mission
For more than 65 years, the Randolph County Humane Society has been dedicated to improving the lives of abandoned, abused, neglected, and homeless animals in Randolph County, West Virginia, and our surrounding areas. We believe every animal deserves a loving, permanent home and a life free from suffering.
Our Story
Founded in 1958 by four pioneering women—Mrs. Dorothy Blake, Mrs. Kay Brown, Mrs. Janet Irwin, and Mrs. Owen Lutz—our shelter grew from a humble barn space to the dedicated facility we operate today on Weese Street. We are proud to continue this long-standing legacy, fueled by a community that refuses to be silent in the face of animal cruelty and neglect.
How We Care
As a private, non-profit organization, we provide a safe harbor for hundreds of dogs and cats each year. Our facility includes a 2008-era dog building and our original 1958 cat building, which features safe, outdoor play areas for enrichment. Beyond our walls, we actively partner with local governments to shelter stray animals and maintain a robust transport program to connect pets with adopters in areas where they have a greater chance of finding their forever family.
