The Humane Society of Parkersburg is a dedicated advocate for animals, striving to provide shelter, rehabilitation, and loving adoptions for those in need while promoting responsible pet ownership. We work to inspire compassion and respect through education and by reducing pet overpopulation with affordable spay and neuter services.
Our History and Community
Since 1956, our organization has been steadfast in the care and protection of animals within our community. Each year, we support over 3,300 animals who have been lost, injured, or are in need of a fresh start, acting as a vital safety net for our local pets.

10/9 - Humane Society of Parkersburg brings dogs to Grand Central Mall for adoption event
The Humane Society of Parkersburg hosted its second Paws at the Mall pet adoption event from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Grand Central Mall.

10/8 - 🥺💔 They watched their siblings leave… and they’re still waiting. One by one, their littermates found families to love them, while these three little ones stayed behind, patiently hoping someone would choose them next. Kool-Aid Man - Male💙 Buzz Bee - Female🩷 Yummy Mummy - Female🩷 They don’t know why they were left behind. They just know they’re still waiting for their turn. 🐾 These sweet babies have so much love to give and a whole lifetime of memories waiting to be made. All they need is someone to look at them and say, “You’re the one I’ve been waiting for.” 🏡❤️

10/7 - A simple walk through the kennels and you can see it in his eyes, King is losing hope. 😢 Today, King got a new stuffie, and he’s already become quite fond of it. 🧸❤️ We can’t help but wish he had a home where he could enjoy all his toys, relax, and finally know what it feels like to be loved and wanted. King is just 1.5 years old and weighs about 63 pounds. He has a heart as big as his block head and so much love to give. ❤️ He does well with other dogs his size or larger and absolutely loves people. Because of his prey drive, King would do best in a home without cats. He deserves a family who will give him the second chance he’s been waiting for. Please don’t let King spend another day wondering when his person is coming. 🥺 Please share King’s story. 10/6 - 🐾 Johnny Boy got promoted to OFFICE DOG! 🐾 At 5 years old, Johnny Boy is still patiently waiting for his forever family. 10/6 - 🐾 Meet Titus: Tiny Kitten, BIG Comeback! 🐾 Titus may have had a bit of a ruff start, but this little guy is officially back in business! 💪🐱 At just two months old, Titus came to us with a pretty gnarly tail injury that required an amputation. But don’t worry, he’s been patched up, healed up, and is ready to leave his tough kitten days behind him! ❤️ Now Titus is looking for a very important position: YOUR Cute & Cuddly BFF! 🥰 The job requirements include: ✨ Expert level snuggling ✨ Making you smile on a daily basis ✨ Being ridiculously adorable ✨ Providing tiny purrs and big personality ✨ Possibly taking over your lap and your heart He’s recovered beautifully and is ready to find his forever home. 🏡❤️

10/2 - 🐾 Spend a morning with office dog Heidi! 🐾 For now, Heidi’s office mom gets the pleasure of tagging along for her morning routine, but this sweet girl would love for that to be you! ❤️ Her mornings look a little something like this: 🌅 Morning walkies with her favorite stuffie of the day 🧸 Handing her Poptart stuffie to office mom to play tug 🍳 Breakfast 😴 And then… nap time! Heidi is a wonderful companion. She loves going for walks, is potty trained, and enjoys playing with other dogs for short periods of time. However, because she absolutely LOVES her stuffies, we think she would do best as the only animal in her forever home so she can keep all her favorite toys to herself. 🥰 Heidi deserves a family who will love her, spoil her, take her on walkies, and appreciate all the joy she brings. 9/29 - 💔 Poor Vader was posted yesterday and still hasn’t received a single adoption application.
