Welcome to the Humane Society of Parkersburg (HSOP), where our commitment to the welfare of animals has been unwavering since 1956. We serve as an advocate for homeless animals, striving to provide shelter, rehabilitation, and adoption opportunities while promoting responsible pet ownership and community compassion.
Our mission is clear: we aim to ensure the safety and well-being of animals in distress, reunite lost pets with their families, and find loving, permanent homes for those in need. At HSOP, we recognize the importance of education in fostering a respectful and compassionate relationship between people and animals. That's why we are dedicated to spreading awareness about responsible pet ownership and the significance of spaying and neutering to help reduce pet overpopulation.
Each year, more than 3,300 animals find their way to our shelter— whether they're lost, injured, neglected, or abandoned. With the support of our community, we make a significant impact on their lives, offering them the care and attention they desperately need. Our rigorous adoption process ensures that we find the right fit for both pets and adopters, aiming for lifelong bonds that prevent animals from being returned to the shelter.
Beyond adoption, we provide vital services like affordable spay/neuter procedures through our SPOT Clinic, wellness services, and vaccination clinics. We also assist community members through our food bank and financial assistance programs, ensuring pets remain with the families who love them.
Our board is composed of dedicated individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and are instrumental in guiding our organization. Together, with the help of compassionate volunteers and community support, we are building a future where every animal is treated with dignity and respect.
Join us in our mission to protect and advocate for animals in our community. Whether through adoption, volunteering, or donating, there are many ways you can help us make a difference. Together, we can create a better world for our furry friends at the Humane Society of Parkersburg.
