The Mason County Animal Shelter is a rural municipal facility working hard to change the world by improving the life of one pet at a time. We believe in a world where every dog and cat is able to lay their head down at night well-cared for and without worry of tomorrow.
As a municipal entity managed by the Mason County Commission, we are honored to serve our local community. We were incredibly proud to be recognized as a No-Kill Shelter for 2023 by the Best Friends Society, an achievement made possible by our dedicated six-person team and our commitment to maintaining a save rate exceeding 90%.
Our daily operations rely on a combination of professional staff care and the generous support of our community. From enrichment activities like doggy day outs and volunteer play sessions to essential partnerships with organizations like PetcoLove and the Bissell Pet Foundation, we provide a nurturing environment for animals awaiting their forever homes.
Adoption is the start of a joyful partnership, and we strive to ensure every animal feels loved from the moment they come through our doors. Whether you are ready to adopt, foster, or sponsor a pet’s adoption fee, your involvement helps us prepare these animals for their new families and ensures the perfect home is never out of reach.
We invite you to visit our facility in Point Pleasant to meet our adoptable residents or explore our website to learn about our volunteer and support opportunities. Every small action—from donating supplies to simply spending time walking our dogs—makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the animals we serve.
