Welcome to the Humane Society of Harrison County (HSHC) in West Virginia! We are deeply committed to creating a compassionate environment for homeless animals in our community. As a strictly "no kill" facility, our primary mission is to ensure that every animal at our shelter is cared for until they find a loving forever home. For every pet we successfully place in a new family, we rescue another from the grasp of Animal Control, redefining hope and second chances for these animals in need. At HSHC, we strive to select the most compatible and healthiest companions for potential adopters, acknowledging the sometimes challenging choices we must make in our quest to save lives. Our dream is to house and protect all animals at risk of being euthanized until they can be adopted into loving homes. Although this might seem like an uphill battle, we are dedicated to this mission with unwavering passion. Our organization serves two vital purposes: to maintain a shelter for unwanted animals and to advocate for animal welfare in our community. We prioritize education on sterilization programs to combat pet overpopulation, advocate for the humane treatment of animals in all aspects of their lives, and work collaboratively with local officials on animal-related issues. We provide humane care for all animals in need and make significant efforts to reunite lost pets with their families while seeking suitable homes for those who are unwanted. Educating the public about the challenges of pet overpopulation is one of our key policies. We invite you to visit us at our facility located at 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV. Our doors are open seven days a week from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM, and we would love for you to meet our dedicated staff and the wonderful animals currently up for adoption. Your support is invaluable.
