Lakeland Animal Shelter
Our Mission
At Lakeland Animal Shelter, our mission is to enrich the lives of both animals and people throughout our community. We are dedicated to ensuring that every life is valued and respected, striving toward a future where every homeless animal finds a safe and loving home.
Our Story
Founded in 1968 by nine community members concerned about the welfare of homeless animals in Walworth County, we have grown into one of the most well-regarded care facilities in Wisconsin. For over 40 years, we have served as a haven for thousands of animals, evolving our mission to reflect a deep, ongoing commitment to animal advocacy and community enrichment.
A Dedicated Haven
Our facility in Delavan serves as a temporary home for 40 to 60 dogs and hundreds of cats at any given time. We are committed to giving every animal the time they need to thrive, providing individual care, behavioral evaluation, and medical treatment—including spay/neuter services and vaccinations—to ensure they are ready for their new chapters. Because we believe in the potential of every pet, we do not limit our intake or length of stay based on age, health, or breed.
Finding Your Perfect Match
Adopting a pet is a beautiful journey, and we are here to help you find the right companion to share your life with. Our adoption counselors work closely with you to understand your lifestyle and preferences, ensuring a thoughtful match for both you and your new friend. We invite you to visit our shelter to meet our animals and see the wonderful personalities waiting to greet you.
Join Our Mission
You can begin your journey by viewing our available animals online or by filling out an Adopter Interest Form before your visit. Whether you choose to adopt, volunteer, or support our work through donations, you are an essential part of the care we provide.
