Our Mission
Shelter From The Storm Animal Rescue is dedicated to reducing the euthanasia rate of healthy and adoptable animals while improving the lives of companion animals in our community. We provide a safe haven for those in need, offering them a second chance at a loving, permanent home.
Our Story
Founded in 2005 in Madison, Wisconsin, our non-profit organization has served as a vital resource for companion animals and their guardians for nearly two decades. We strive to bridge the gap for animals who need us most, providing essential care and promoting responsible pet ownership throughout our community.
How We Care
As a managed-intake rescue, we prioritize dogs and cats from puppy mills, irresponsible breeders, and overcrowded shelters. While our physical shelter on Blossom Lane provides a safe, comfortable space for many of our residents, we also rely on a network of dedicated foster homes to provide love, training, and socialization. Our sister organization, the Wisconsin Community Veterinary Center, helps ensure our animals receive the essential medical care they need to thrive.
